How to Forward Calls on Bell (Mobile & Home Phone)
1. Introduction
Call forwarding is one of the most useful phone features for professionals, business owners, remote workers, and anyone who wants to make sure they never miss an important call. Bell, one of Canada’s largest telecom providers, offers several forwarding options for both Bell Mobility and Bell Home Phone users.
Whether you’re travelling, in a meeting, unavailable, or simply want to route your calls to another device, Bell gives you multiple ways to redirect calls based on conditions like no answer, busy line, or phone unreachable.
This guide provides a step-by-step explanation, including the exact codes to dial, how to cancel forwarding, troubleshooting tips, and what limitations to expect.
2. What Is Call Forwarding on Bell?
Call forwarding allows Bell users to automatically redirect incoming calls to another number—such as:
- A second mobile phone
- A work phone or office line
- A landline
- A VoIP number
- A partner or assistant
- Voicemail
Bell supports four types of call forwarding:
1. Unconditional Forwarding (All Calls)
Every incoming call is immediately forwarded to another number. Your phone will not ring.
2. Call Forwarding When No Answer
Your phone rings first. If you don’t pick up after a set number of rings, the call is forwarded.
3. Call Forwarding When Busy
If you are on the phone, incoming calls are redirected.
4. Call Forwarding When Unreachable
Calls are forwarded if your phone is off, out of coverage, or in airplane mode.
3. Bell Mobility – Call Forwarding Codes
Bell uses standard GSM forwarding codes. These work on iPhone, Android, and older devices.
Forward ALL Calls (Unconditional Forwarding)
Dial:
***21PHONE NUMBER#**
Press Call.
Example:
*215141234567#
Forward When No Answer
Dial:
**61PHONE NUMBER#**
This forwards calls after the default delay of 20 seconds (approx. 4 rings).
Forward When Busy
Dial:
**67PHONE NUMBER#**
Useful when you receive many calls.
Forward When Unreachable
Dial:
**62PHONE NUMBER#**
Perfect when you travel or have poor coverage.
4. How to Cancel Call Forwarding on Bell Mobility
To disable all forwarding on mobile:
Cancel All Forwarding
Dial:
##21#
Cancel Individual Forwarding Types
- Cancel no-answer forwarding: ##61#
- Cancel busy forwarding: ##67#
- Cancel unreachable forwarding: ##62#
Alternatively, you can turn off forwarding under:
Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding (iPhone)
or
Phone App → Settings → Calling → Call Forwarding (Android)
5. Bell Home Phone – Call Forwarding (Landline)
Bell’s landline call forwarding is easy and does not require special equipment.
Activate Call Forwarding (Unconditional)
- Pick up the handset.
- Dial: *72
- Enter the number where calls should be forwarded.
- Wait for confirmation tone.
The phone will now forward all incoming calls immediately.
Deactivate Call Forwarding on Home Phone
Dial:
*73
You will hear a confirmation tone.
No-Answer Forwarding (Selective Forwarding)
For landlines, Bell usually sets the ring count to 4 rings by default.
Bell Home Phone does not allow customers to manually choose the number of rings; changing it requires contacting Bell support.
6. How Many Rings Before Bell Forwards the Call?
Bell Mobility (mobile):
- Default: 20 seconds / ~4 rings
- Can be customized by Bell support to 5, 10, 15, or 30 seconds
- Cannot be changed by dialing a code
Bell Home Phone:
- Fixed at approx. 4 rings
- Cannot be user-adjusted
7. Call Forwarding Billing for Bell
Bell may charge for:
- Each minute forwarded to a long-distance number
- Forwarding to U.S. or international numbers
- Forwarding across provinces in certain plans
Forwarding to Canadian mobile numbers is usually included.
8. Troubleshooting Bell Call Forwarding
Call forwarding does not work
✔ Make sure you entered the full 10-digit number
✔ Remove spaces or symbols
✔ Ensure your plan allows forwarding
✔ Call forwarding cannot be set to the same number as the incoming call
Phone still rings even after forwarding activation
Forwarding may not have applied if:
- You have Wi-Fi calling with fallback settings
- Device settings override network settings
- You activated conditional instead of unconditional forwarding
Call goes to voicemail instead of forwarded number
Turn off voicemail temporarily, or ask Bell to disable conditional forwarding.
